Yes...we went crazy again for a week. Closed in the same studio as last year, with new and refreshing special guests, no worries, no pressure, same drinks, same smokes, same instruments and same laptop! This time, instead of dub, we´ve tried to recreate the feeling of those old reggae love songs, from the 60s to the 90s. Lovers Rock was the new task and we could feel the romance in the air. A lot of training was required to capture that feeling: listening to records from Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Freddy Mcgregor, Johnny Osbourne, Alton Ellis, among others, fueled our inspiration for the love week. The sweet combination of soul voices with basslines and reggae rhythms was our inspiration. We knew immediately that we needed great singers that could assume romantic reggae as their natural habitat. When the singers came to the studio honey was dripping from the microphone while the band kept coming with new riddims and ideas. Sometimes sweet and romantic, sometimes sexy and provocative, this is our message of love for the 21st century. The Grasspoppers proudly presents Lovers Rock Inna Week.
